Alexey Zhukanenko (alternatively Alexei Zhukanenko, born May 18, 1986 in Almaty, Soviet Union) is a Russian professional basketball player. He is 2.10 m (6 ft 10 in) in height and plays as a center. He currently plays with the pro club BC Khimki and is also a member of the Russian national basketball team.
Zhukanenko played with the junior team at UNICS Kazan from 2002 to 2004. He later spent four years with the senior team between 2005 and 2009.[1] For the 2009-10 season, he was signed by fellow Russian side Dynamo Moscow.[2] In June 2011 he signed a two-year contract with BC Khimki.[3] He helped the squad to the 2009 Russian National Cup title.[4]
Zhukanenko is also a member of the senior Russian national basketball team. He competed with the team for the first time at the 2010 FIBA World Championship after previously making appearances with the junior national team.[5]
